Do You Repair Monitors?Posted on: January 2nd, 2012 No, we, unfortunately, are not able to repair monitors. Actually, we are not aware of any place which does such repairs. The reason for this is that monitors are not made to be repaired. There’s no market for parts, no documentation available as to the internal workings of a monitor. Therefore finding the faulty components on the circuit board of a monitor, and locating replacement parts would be extremely labor intensive. That makes repair so costly that it’s not profitable because the cost of labor and parts would in almost every single case higher than a whole new monitor. So monitors, beyond their warranty period, are basically disposable items. However, care should be taken to properly dispose of them because most of them contain mercury, a toxic metal, and other environmentally harmful substances which should not go to regular landfills. You can dispose of monitors at household hazardous waste sites provided by your city. For Indianapolis you can find information about that program here: http://www.indy.gov/eGov/City/DPW/SustainIndy/RRR/Reuse/Pages/ToxDrop.aspx |
