AVG Update Error (Aug 16, 2008)Posted on: August 17th, 2008 I just got an email from a client who said that her AVG failed to update tonight and gave an error saying: “A .bin file is missing”. Then I worked on one of my computers and started an update on AVG and the same error message came up for me also. So I Google’d it and found a number of discussions on it and one of them had a solution that worked. Because it was written for computer geeks I wrote down the step-by-step instructions so anybody can do it. Apparently it’s a glitch in the AVG automatic update process and it’s not resolved by uninstalling and reinstalling AVG. Grisoft (the maker of AVG) is working on the resolution of this issue. However until then here’s how you can get your AVG updated: Your AVG status icon will look like this, if the updates did not happen, or one of the components are not functioning:
